The Richard and Carol Mox Young Artist Music Competition
The Richard and Carol Mox Young Artist Music Competition (originally The Richard and Carol Mox Vocal Scholarship Fund) was established by the Metropolitan Detroit Chorale, Inc. in remembrance of Richard and Carol Mox and the commitment they made to vocal music programs throughout the metropolitan Detroit community and particularly in Fraser. Their dedication to vocal music performance touched many lives and, through this fund, will continue to enrich the lives of young musicians in all areas of music.
The Metropolitan Detroit Chorale, Inc. administers the scholarship fund, which provides financial assistance to students graduating from Fraser High School who are pursuing advanced degrees in music. The program currently awards three scholarships each year in the amounts of $1250, $750 and $500. These scholarships are part of the Chorale's outreach program, which focuses on three aspects of music: education, appreciation, and participation. Since its inception, 36 scholarships have been awarded.
