Vocal Scholarship
Eligibility
Students wishing to apply for scholarship funds must meet the following criteria:
- Must be accepted to a college or university; pursuing a degree in vocal music
- Must demonstrate an exceptional past commitment to vocal performance
- Must have at least a 3.0 grade point average
- Must be a graduate of Fraser High School or expecting to graduate at the end of the school year in which he/she is applying
References
Three (3) letters of reference must be submitted with the application. Two letters must be from individuals familiar with the applicant’s performance and scholastic abilities.
Narrative
The applicant must submit a narrative describing his/her vocal music training and performance experience. It must also include a paragraph explaining why he/she has chosen to pursue a degree in vocal music.
Review Process
All candidates must complete an application form and the audition process.
All candidates will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of the professional staff of Metropolitan Detroit Chorale (music director, accompanist, and choreographer) as well as the Chorale’s president, vice-president, member-at-large and an advisory board member or trustee.
Application Deadline
All applications for 2009 must be postmarked no later than Monday, March 16, 2009.
All paperwork; the application, letters of reference, and narrative; are due by this date.
Auditions
Auditions will be held in the Fraser High School choir room. Date yet to be determined.
